Knee pain treatment options

It can be a difficult task to find the knee pain treatment options that work best for you. Luckily, there’s a physical therapy team that can help you make this task much easier.

Back in Motion provides high-quality physical therapy services to the residents of Dexter, Gorham, South Portland, Portland and Brewer, Maine. One of the goals we always include in our therapy plans is education. This is because we’ve found that educating our patients about their condition or injury and the treatments we use may be beneficial. For instance, it may allow you to perform certain knee pain treatment options at home, which may help reduce the overall time you spend in therapy.

Knee pain treatment options we may teach you to use at home

Our team knows that knee pain can be detrimental to your quality of life. This is why we offer many different knee pain treatment options in our therapy plans that may help reduce your knee pain quickly. Another factor that may help reduce your knee pain more rapidly is if we teach you to do some of your treatments at home.

Our team knows that in-office therapy is vital to helping you recover from knee pain as quickly as possible. However, we also know that you may benefit from learning to do some of your treatments at home as well. One treatment that we may teach you that you can use at home is your knee stretches and strengthening exercises. We may also show you how to use cold therapy to reduce your knee inflammation while you’re relaxing at home. Another treatment option that we may teach you to use at home is a knee brace. However, we do recommend that you only use the brace if you have to. This is because overuse of the brace may cause your knee muscles to weaken further, which can increase the time you spend in therapy.

By teaching you to use these and other knee treatments at home, our team may be able to help you increase the amount of time you spend on your therapy. These at-home knee pain treatment options, combined with your in-office treatment sessions, may help you to greatly reduce the time you spend recovering from knee pain.
