I have never experienced a better atmosphere and patient care than at Back In Motion in Newport. I’ve experienced debilitating knee pain for years and no matter where I went, I was never able to find successful rehabilitation. Then I became a patient at BIM and within several sessions, my knee pain went away. They are easy and good to work with, care is considerate and coordinated, all the staff are polite (especially Sonja, she’s so bubbly and polite!) and I just can’t express how much I would recommend them for your medical needs!Posted on Google![]()

What a terrific office! Kendra was excellent scheduling my appointments and I was really impressed with Sam's quick and detailed assessment of what was causing my pain and discomfort. He immediately had me do three exercises and by the time I had done them for the week and returned, my pain had already subsided. My next two appointments were with Jacob who was also able to further the building of my strength and mobility and added several more challenging exercises. If you want exceptional personal attention and help, Back in Motion is impressive. I will definitely return for any future issues that arise..Posted on Google![]()

They seem to do a good job at working with patients. Be prepared to have your business put out on the street. It is an open gym style Office and you work side-by-side with other clients, trainers, and the people sitting in the waiting room. They will talk about everything and anything and 90% of it has nothing to do with your training or physical therapy. The receptionist seems nice but it’s a bit over the top with trying to be funny. It comes off as obnoxious. But, it’s better than being a raging hag so there’s that. Overall, I think the therapy you receive is excellent. I think they just goof around too much and they will air business right there on the floor.Posted on Google![]()

After 2 1/2 years, I am back at Back In Motion In Saco. Yup, second complete knee replacement! The PT,s were new to me however, what I am about to share goes for then and now. I worked with both Karl, Julia and Alex at times. They were excellent in their knowledge of any of the scenarios that I was experiencing plus they were very sensitive to my concerns and were able to fine tune the exercises to my needs. Erin at the front desk was very helpful and always pleasant. I highly recommend Back In Motion located in Saco for whatever your needs may be.Posted on Google![]()

I researched Back in Motion, Brunswick and chose it over the suggestions of my PCP. And I do not regret it. With extensive experience as a PT patient, there are particular things I look for before wasting my time. Sam (clinical director) had trained and practiced elsewhere and therefore brought another interpretation to the practice. Shored up by Jacob (my PT) Regan and Kendra (front desk manager extraordinaire) they make an exceptionally caring, patient and informed team. I arrived with a severely fractured wrist which had been left unattended. Twice weekly sessions built my wrist strength and I did some additional basic work off hours. While I may never have full rotation again, 80% ability will suffice. Thank you team Back in Motion for the work and equally important, the laughs👏🏻Posted on Google![]()

I had a wonderful time at this location for the many issues my body decided to crop up between headaches, rib issues, and vertigo. Evan was such a wonderful help and very much supported me every step of the way. The staff at this location in particular are some of the best not only in what they do but also in the way they treat their patients. The atmosphere was always friendly and when you're having a tough time they pretty much always put a smile on your face. I looked forward to my appointments and now I honestly miss them!Posted on Google![]()

I went to Back to Motion in Sanford. Curtis was my primary physical therapist. He helped me so much. He was professional and caring and I felt like he really listened and heard my concerns. Most importantly he gave me hope that my limitations could be improved and I’m happy to say that Ive experienced considerably improvement. I am going to continue with all of the things that Curtis taught me. I would encourage anyone with physical issues to reach out to Back to motion. Thank you!Posted on Google![]()

I had some really intense vertigo for about a week and had had no help from my initial quick care appointment at another practice, but I got in with Mike and he was amazing. He very patiently explained everything he was doing and why, and showed me the correct way to do the exercises I had previously been told to just google. He was very thorough in checking everything out and even made it feel fun instead of strictly business, and I'll definitely be coming back to him if I have more vertigo or balance problems in the future :)Posted on Google![]()

I had crippling neck pain that would take me out of work for multiple days. After less than 10 sessions with the folks at Back in Motion, my neck pain is virtually non-existent. I have been taught exercises that relieve acute flare ups. And been setup with exercises for long term improvements.Posted on Google![]()

I observed that Robert Lammers demonstrated a high level of attentiveness and listened carefully to the issues I raised. I herniated a disc in my lower back recently, which was alarming given that I'm very active and still in my 30s. I literally couldn't walk for the first few weeks without excruciating pain, sciatic nerve jolts, and instant nausea. Pain meds did nothing (opiates included, despite my hesitance to try them). Med professionals, while helpful to some degree, couldn't give me a clear answer on direction of treatment--could get an injection, could get surgery, sort of up to me. They recommended I start with physical therapy, and I'm grateful for that recommendation--the spine specialist gave me the number to Back in Motion, in Portland, ME. I was skeptical. The space is in a strip mall on outer Brighton. The therapy space is shared with multiple physical therapist and patients. I worked with Dan S., and he quickly alleviated my concerns. Dan is thoughtful, smart, funny, and takes time to get to know his patients. He asks a lot of relevant questions and offers practical suggestions and feedback. We met weekly for about four months--I went from unable to stand for more than a few minutes at a time, to (on my last visit, recently) jogging laps around the parking lot, working on form and balance. There was a lot of work in between, but all of it was set in motion by Dan's guidance. He explained how each exercise would help in the strengthening and recovery process, and he built a customized program that worked for me. I incorporated his suggestions in my workout at the gym. Dan is the real deal. When my other healthcare professionals (chiropractic, nurse practitioner) asked about my PT progress, and I told them about the specifics of my plan, not only did they seem pleasantly surprised, they commended the direction of treatment and Dan's recommendations. How often do various wings of healthcare agree on anything?! Even though the space is a little small, and even though you might have to work around other patients, the staff is awesome, and it was well worth my time and energy. I highly, highly recommend that you give PT a try before you consider injections or surgery. And, if you go to the Portland, ME location (Brighton Ave), ask for Dan. You won't be disappointed.Posted on Yelp![]()

I am no stranger to PT having had issues since I was a teenager. Now at 61 I have found the best Physical Therapist, Paul Brown. His approach is calming, his experience vast, and his methods careful and reassuring. My results have been dramatic and quick. I noticed big improvement in mobility after the first visit. I can't say enough about Paul and Back In Motion.Posted on Yelp![]()

If you are going to be treated at Back in Motion in Portland you need to see Ted, DPT and Bri, PTA. These two are terrific. From day 1 they were so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Ted explained my condition in depth but also in a way that I could understand. Bri explained the exercises so well and ensured that they were done perfectly. If I had discomfort with an exercise she knew exactly how to modify it or chose a different, less intense exercise that I was able to do without pain. I looked forward to coming in, it felt like catching up with a friend! You can tell they love what they do. Highly, highly recommend!Posted on Yelp![]()

We have used Back in Motion for at least 3 years at 2 different locations. No complaints about staff or what they've done for us. However, this new idea of handing ipads to 80 year old people (My Mother, for example) and expecting them to complete a survey without the option of a written review of their experience there puts me off. I am used to the digital age but my Mother should not be forced to try to use such a device. They could easily take written information and could input within minutes as they choose to do but refuse to do so. So, we are looking for a more comfortable PT experience at this point. Sorry, but I have heard the same complaint re. the ipads (Filthy, smeared screens from lots of constant use & not wanting to use the pads to begin with) while sitting in the waiting area. Will be looking for a new company for next year.Posted on Yelp![]()

Huge thanks to the amazing doctors and therapists at Back in Motion. I had been dealing with chronic pain issues for years that were completely resolved with treatment. My Primary Care Physician was unable to determine the problem. Doctor Michael Moras figured it out. The people who help with the exercises are friendly, helpful and patient. Highly recommended!Posted on Yelp![]()

I wish I could give this place 5 stars. There are aspects of this organization that deserve 5+ stars. I can't remember what they're called, but the people who take clients after they have their first meeting with their PT are really awesome people. They help you through your exercises to make sure you're doing them right and they really want to see you do your exercises right. If something hurts when you're doing an exercise they work with you to see if you can get into a different position or do a different exercise so your body doesn't hurt. The front desk people are also very nice and understanding. The layout of the So. Po. office is nicely laid out as well. Those are reasons to give this place 5 stars. Now, unfortunately I won't be returning and why I gave this review 3 stars is because of Paul. I had 4 appointments with him and each appointment I never felt comfortable with him. He asked me to tell him my story the first two sessions (1x with him during my consultation and 1x in front of his intern). The second time I got the impression that he forgot about me and what I told him. He usually looked down at his clipboard when I would tell him something was hurting or I was describing something, which made me think he wasn't listening to what I was saying. He would always make this "Mhm.", "Yup" type noises whenever I was speaking, which is fine for a second, but after doing that so often it made me feel like he wasn't listening to what I was saying. I felt like he only saw me as a body and not as a person. It seemed like all he cared about was if I was doing my exercises, not about how difficult it may be to do my exercises on a daily basis due to my schedule. The first 3 weeks my schedule was fine and I could do my exercises more often. The 4th week was a very stressful and busy week and I thought I was too busy and tired to do my exercises. But I knew that week was short lived and I devised a plan for myself to make time daily to do my exercises. Well when I told him my situation and that I unfortunately didn't do them, I had to sit a room with him for 30 minutes and listen to him lecture and near the point of speaking down to me about how I didn't do my exercises. There were times he would speak about me, in front of me through his intern, but sometimes wouldn't speak to me. In front of me, he told his intern "there's all this research that says why it's good for people to stretch, but then they get busy and don't do it. It's frustrating. It's my job to motivate her (meaning me) to do her exercises." That was around minute 20 and by that time I was near tears. He had this "you're wasting my time" attitude the whole time during my 4th appointment. I told him I will do my exercises and that it's time management on my part that I need to figure out, but I'm dedicated to fixing my muscular issues. Even saying reassuring statements like that didn't seem to please him. At a certain point I wasn't sure what he wanted me to say. I realize I didn't hold up my end of the bargain and I need to make sure I set time aside to do my exercises, but I do not deserve that treatment at all. Nobody deserves that treatment. I would love to continue seeing a PT, but I will never go back to Back in Motion. I didn't feel like a person, I felt like a body.Posted on Yelp![]()
